Spiders Drop Heartbreaker to Georgetown

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Spiders dropped a tough match to Georgetown, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Courts. The Spiders drop to 8-8 on the season while the Hoyas improve to 7-10.
The Spiders got out to an early lead as they swept doubles competition. John Walsh and Campbell Erwin clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court two. With the win, the pair improves to 11-3 as a duo this season, and has not been beaten since Feb. 18.
Walsh won his singles match on court two to give Richmond a 2-0 advantage in the match, and after the Hoyas evened things up with singles wins on courts six and four, Josh Keitelman fought for a 6-1, 7-6 win on court five to retake the lead in the match 3-2.
With the match knotted at 3-3, Daniel Kliebhan battled out a three-set thriller on court one, eventually falling 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Spiders return to action at home Sunday, April 3 to host George Mason at noon.
