DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Richmond offense unleashed a six-run fourth inning on the Dayton Flyers that proved to be unsurmountable and collected a 7-5 victory to take the Atlantic 10 Conference series finale Sunday at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Richmond moves to 24-23 on the year and 9-12 in A-10 action while Dayton falls to 22-25 for the season and 9-12 in league play.

The Spiders return to Pitt Field to close out the regular season hosting Rhode Island, beginning Thursday, May 19 with first pitch set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

Dayton took a 2-0 lead, tallying single runs in the second and third off of Richmond starter Brenden Argomaniz (Claremont, Calif.). Argomaniz (5-0) collected the win after allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, four walks and three hit batters with two strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings of work.

Johnny Hipsman (Chester, N.Y.) opened the sixth with an infield single and moved up after Jason Neff (West Palm Beach, Fla.), who extended his hit-streak to eight games with a hit in the second, reached on a hit by pitch. Hipsman scored the Spiders first run on Jake Elbeery (West Andover, Mass.) base hit to right. Jared Sprague-Lott (Philadelphia, Pa.) tied the game with a single to left, scoring Neff from second. Will Gersky (Woodbury, Conn.) drew a walk to load the bases.

With two-outs Alden Mathes (Broomall, Pa.) forced in Sprague-Lott after drawing his own walk to give the Spiders the lead. Dominic Toso (Philadelphia, Pa.) laced a double to the left center gap to clear the bases and put the Spiders up 6-2.

Dayton would get two runs in the fifth to cut into Richmond's lead, 6-4. Reliever Josh Willitts (Southampton, N.J.) got the final out of the fifth via the strikeout. Willitts allowed one unearned run in the seventh and scattered three hits and a walk with six strikeouts over the final four and a third innings of the game for his first save.

Richmond added an insurance run in the seventh to push the lead back to two runs at 7-5. Toso and Hipsman collected back-to-back singles, both tallying their second hits of the game to open the frame. They both advanced on Neff's sacrifice bunt before Toso scored on a Dayton wild pitch.
