06/30/2022 | Women's Basketball
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced pairings for the 2022-23 women's basketball season. The league has compiled a 16-game schedule, allowing each team to face each league opponent once and two teams twice.
The Spiders will play a home-and-home series against VCU for the 10th straight season and Davidson for the first time since 2017-18.
This year's league schedule incorporates Loyola Chicago, which joins the A-10 on July 1 as the 15th member institution, allowing for one less home-and-home series this year.
Richmond split its series with VCU last season, falling 72-68 at home before defeating the Rams 59-57 on a last-second shot in the regular season finale at the Siegel Center.
The Spiders faced Davidson twice last season including a second-round matchup in the A-10 Tournament in which the Wildcats won 66-62. The two teams have not played a regular-season home-and-home series since 2017-18.
Richmond returns nine players from last year's squad, including leading scorer and Second Team All-Conference selection Addie Budnik. Head Coach Aaron Roussell will be in his fourth season at the helm of the Spiders program.
The complete 2022-23 conference schedule with dates and times, as well as national television information, will be released at a later date. The 2023 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship will be played March 1-5 and will return to CHASE Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Del., for the second consecutive year.
