Keppel Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond senior defender Tess Keppel (Baltimore, Md.) was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. This is her first career weekly conference award and the first for the team this season.
In the Spiders 3-1 victory Friday (Sept. 9) at William & Mary, Keppel collected a defensive save in the third quarter and helped the UR defense hold the Tribe to just three total corners and seven shots in the contest.
Keppel converted her first career penalty stroke in Sunday's (Sept. 4) 6-1 victory against Towson in the third quarter. She also helped limit the Tigers time in their offensive third of the field, holding the visitors to just seven shots and three corners.
On the season, Keppel has tallied five points on two goals and one assist.
Richmond, 3-1, is back in action Sunday, Sept. 11 at Crenshaw Field, welcoming No. 14 Old Dominion, 3-1, for a noon contest on ESPN+.
