Spiders Track & Field Set to Compete in Patriot Games

Richmond, Va.- The University of Richmond track and field program heads to Fairfax, Va. on Friday to participate in the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason.

Virginia Beringer is set for a busy meet this weekend as she will compete in the 400m, 500m and the DMR. Beringer is looking to spark a hot streak as she is coming off of an impressive performance at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a win and new personal best in the 500m (1:15.21).

Freshman Caroline Donohoe will lead off the DMR with the 1200M leg and return in the 500M after a successful trip to the Virginia Tech Invitational where she took first place in the 800m (2:17.27) in only her second collegiate outing. With this win, Donohoe brought home the A-10 Rookie of the Week award.

Elke Van der Westhuizen, the former University of Pittsburgh Panther, is set to make her Richmond track and field debut in the 60m and 200m as she looks to make an immediate impact for the Spiders.

Kamryn Ross plans on competing in the 60m hurdles and the 200m as she hopes to add to an already impressive season.

The season has gotten of to a quick start with six Spider athletes and the DMR already qualified for the ECAC Championships. Defending ECAC 60H Champion, Kamryn Ross has qualified with her 8.71 in her last outing. Ginny Beringer's personal best of 1:15.21 two weeks ago has her qualified in the 500M. In the 1,000M the duo of Kyra Keurentjes (2:50.06) and Kayla O'Connell (2:54.28) rank 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and has them qualified for Boston. Distance ace Madison Trippett, who placed an impressive 25^th in last weekends 2023 USATF National Cross Country Championships, has two marks under her belt. She has qualified in the Mile (4:57.83) and 3,000M (9:50.33), while Molly Wise holds the A10 leading mark of 5.88M in the long jump, which also qualifies her for the ECAC Championships to be held in Boston in early March.
