Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond women's lacrosse head coach Anne Harrington has announced the 2024 Spiders women's lacrosse schedule Friday. The 16-game regular season consists of eight Robins Stadium home games as well as eight road trips.
"The schedule release is always exciting because it means the season is right around the corner. This team is hungry to get on the field together. We are working hard, one day at a time, to prepare for a competitive Spring", said Harrington.
Richmond is coming off of a 17-4 season where they won the Atlantic 10 conference title along with a fresh chapter in the history books with the programs first ever appearance in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Spiders dominated in the first round with an 18-8 victory over Marquette.
As the group ended their 2023 season ranked No. 14 through the IWLCA and USA Women's Lacrosse Magazine polls, they are excited to compete through the new year against a variety of great opponents.
The Spiders kick off the season with an exhibition game against Towson on February 2. They open their regular season on February 10 at Campbell at Noon. The non-conference schedule also includes Old Dominion, William & Mary, Liberty, No. 25 Navy, No. 15 UVA and No. 6 James Madison.
Richmond will travel to Atlantic 10 conference opponents Duquesne in Pittsburgh, PA; George Mason in Fairfax, Va.; La Salle in Philadelphia, PA; and VCU in downtown Richmond. They will host Davidson, Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, George Washington and UMass. The Atlantic 10 portion of the schedule is slated for the beginning of March into the end of April.
The Spiders will return nine seniors including Marymargaret Quinn, Ali Susskind, Nicole Burney, Katherine Lutz, Sarah Roycroft, Becca Sturtz, Maddy Sesay, Leah Kenny and Katie Riehl. The staff has also been excited to add transfers Charlotte Edwards, Meaghan Trainer and Whitney Liebler to the team. A group of ten freshman have also bolstered the roster for Richmond heading into the 2024 season.
The 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at Duquesne University through May 2-5.
