AMHERST, Mass. – Behind a double-double from junior Grace Townsend, the University of Richmond Women's Basketball team dropped a heartbreaking, 73-69 decision at Massachusetts Wednesday Night. The Spiders fell to 13-8 on the year and 3-5 in conference play while the Minutewomen improved to 18-4 overall and 8-1 in the A-10.
Townsend, with her third double-double of the season, finished the game with a season-high 11 assists, 11 points and was just shy of a triple-double with nine rebounds. Junior Addie Budnik led the scoring efforts for the Spiders, recording 27 points, an assist, two rebounds and a block. Junior Siobhan Ryan and freshman Maggie Doogan each chipped in 11 points in the contest as Doogan recorded her fifth-straight game in double figures and had eight rebounds and two assists while Ryan had three assists on the night.
"We aren't happy with the result, but we played really well," said Head Coach Aaron Roussell. "We moved the basketball really well and I thought early on we were able to get to the free throw line, but UMass was able to shut it down later in the game, but our placement and ball movement were really strong."

The Spiders responded with two treys from Budnik to gain a 15-10 advantage with 3:04 left in the first 10 minutes. Two more threes from Budnik and Townsend gave the Spiders a 23-16 lead at the quarter break.
