RICHMOND, Va. – With 5:06 left on the clock in the third quarter, junior Addie Budnik recorded a wide-open trey to become the 27th Spider to reach 1,000 career points as the University of Richmond Women's Basketball Team posted an 87-45 victory over St. Bonaventure on senior night. With the win, the Spiders finish the regular season with an 18-9 record and an 8-6 mark in the Atlantic-10 while the Bonnies finished their campaign with a 6-25 record and a 3-13 mark in conference play.
"It was a really incredible night for so many different reasons," said Head Coach Aaron Roussell. "I think starting with our seniors it was a huge night for them and I thought they came out with great energy. I thought the first five minutes of the game we really clicked right away and on the defensive end as well as the offensive end I thought Angel made some key plays and EKG followed suit and and got some rebounds. I thought those two really led the charge and our juniors followed the energy the seniors brought along. You can really tell that the team really wanted a special night for the seniors and I think that's that says a lot about our team."
Richmond also clinched a No. 5 seed in the A-10 Women's Basketball Championship, slated for Mar. 1-5 in Wilmington, De. at Chase Fieldhouse. The Spiders will get a bye on day one and will take on the winner of No. 12 Dayton and No. 13 VCU on Mar. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
Prior to the game against the Bonnies, Emilija Krista Grava, Elaina Chapman and Angel Burgos were honored for Senior Night. Grava and Burgos recorded three points on the night while Burgos recorded three rebounds and Grava posted two.
As a team, the Spiders shot 34 of 60 (56.7%) from the field, 9 of 19 (47.4%) from deep and 10 of 19 (52.6%) from the line. In addition, the Spiders posted 46 rebounds, 19 assists, eight blocks, nine steals and 19 points off 13 Bonnie turnovers. Individually, Budnik paced the team with a team-high 18 points while four other Spiders finished in double figures including freshman Rachel Ullstrom with 13, junior Siobhan Ryan with 11 and sophomores Katie Hill and Sydney Boone with 10 points each. The Spider bench posted 46 points in the contest.
A lone free throw from Grava got the Spiders rolling as UR went on a 10-2 run to start the game. After the Bonnies scratched back to 13-7, buckets from Hill and Budnik pushed the Spider lead to 17-7 with 3:46 left in the first 10 minutes. A layup and a free throw from Budnik gave UR a 21-11 advantage at the quarter.

After a pair of free throws from SBU, Budnik, sophomores Sydney Boone and Katie Hill and Ullstrom combined for 11 points, giving UR a 37-13 lead with 1:15 left in the half. The Spider offense continued to fire on all cylinders into the third and fourth quarters as a trey from Ullstrom gave the Spiders a 71-29 lead and another bucket from the freshman in the fourth quarter gave UR its largest lead of the game, 77-29. Ullstrom again rounded out the game with an easy layup to hand the Spiders the 87-45 victory.
