CHARLESTON, S.C. — Freshman Hannah Lydic and junior Rory Weinfurther finished the RiverTowne Invitational tied for 29th Tuesday with scores of 223 (+7). As a team, Richmond placed 15th out of 19 teams in the field, recording a 54-hole team score of 904 (+40).
"I'm still seeing glimpses of our potential," said Head Coach Calle Barlow. "Each tournament we have learned something and that's what I like to see."
Richmond combined for a score of 312 (+24) in Tuesday's final round. The Spiders were particularly befuddled by the par-5 9th hole at RiverTowne Country Club, playing the hole in a combined 7-over par Tuesday.
Lydic's result was her best since placing second at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational in September. She benefited from playing the par 3s in a combined 2-under over her three rounds, best of any golfer in the field of 103.
Senior Vicky Zhu shot Richmond's low round on Tuesday, carding a 4-over 76 to finish at 229 (+13), tied for 55th place. Senior Muskan Uppal tied for 71st at 234 (+18), and freshman Olivia Wilkie tied for 75th at 235 (+19).
Richmond won't return to competition until March 17th, when the Spiders open play at the Low Country Intercollegiate at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
"I think some much needed rest and recovery will help," said Barlow.
