Spiders Wrap Up Split Weekend With Successful Results

Coral Gables, FL & Newport News, Va. - The University of Richmond Track and Field program wrapped up their weekend at the Miami Hurricanes Alumni Invitational and the CNU Captain's Classic with many successful results.
Madison Trippett, Kyra Keurentjes, Kayla O'Connell and Kate McAndrew all produced positive results as they finished their time in Florida.
Madison Trippett soared in the 1500m, taking the first place finish with a time of 4:21.41. Using a strong last lap and quick final 120m she closed the final 400m in 67.72 to claim victory over a deep field. Her mark and new personal best in the 1500m now sits at No. 1 in the A-10, No. 11 in the ECAC and No. 20 in the NCAA East.
Kyra Keurentjes grabbed another first place finish for the Spiders in the 800m where she tallied a season best with a time of 2:07.82.
Kayla O'Connell (2:09.98) and Kate McAndrew (2:11.95) finished respectively at third and fourth place in the 800m.
At the CNU Captains Classic, many Spiders finished with impressive results.
The 800m proved to be a success for Richmond at this meet as well. Morgan Lyons (2:19.62), Maddie Orr (2:20.33), Emily Rzucidlo (PB-2:21.19) and Aylin Bruce (2:26.07-Debut) took the sweep as they finished at first, second, third and fifth.
Nina Lavelle ran strong with a second place mark in the 200m (26.21) and a fourth place finish in the 400m (1:00.79).
Elke Van der Westhuizen grabbed the second place finish in the 400m at 58.56.
Jason Latina finished strong in the men's 1500m as he took the third place finish at 4:11.56 (personal best).
Up next, the Spiders split duties in California as one group will head to the Mt. SAC relays and the other will go to the Bryan Clay Invitational.
