06/27/2023 | Women's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. — Rising senior Rory Weinfurther has been named to the association of Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Women's Golf Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Weinfurther, a Second Team All-State selection for the second straight year, is the first golfer in program history to earn All-State honors in multiple seasons.
Weinfurther led Richmond with a 74.52 scoring average this season, the lowest ever by a Spider, and dropped her career scoring average to 75.20, also the best in program history. Weinfurther led the Spiders with three top-10 finishes and five top-20 finishes. Her best result was a tie for third at the Low Country Intercollegiate in March and at the Patriot League Championship in April, when she shot a 2-over 218 to lead the Spiders to the team title.
Following the tournament, Weinfurther was named First Team All-Patriot League for a third straight season. She joined Sophie DiPetrillo as the only Spiders to ever earn First Team All-Conference honors three times.
Weinfurther is one of four Spiders to ever earn All-State honors, along with Annie Collom (2019 - Second Team), Elsa Diaz (2015 - Second Team), and Tracy Martin (2013 - First Team). VaSID's All-State Team is voted on by sports media relations professionals associated with a university or conference in Virginia.
