Men’s and Women’s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Teams; Seven Student-Athletes Highlight ITA Scholar Athlete List

RICHMOND, Va. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2023 Division I Men's and Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and Academic Teams. Individually, Alaister Burke, Sebastian Miano, William Karpinski, Alex Wernink, Lara Bakhaya, Elizabeth Novak and Polina Shitikova were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes based on their outstanding scholastic achievements while both the Men's and Women's Tennis programs made the All-Academic Team list.

This marks the first ITA All-Academic Team Award for the Men's Tennis program, the second honor for the Women's program and the Women's first since the 2018-19 academic year.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
Be listed on the institutional eligibility form

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
