Richmond Cross Country Announces 2023 Schedule

Richmond, Va. -Â The University of Richmond Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are gearing up for an exciting and competitive season as they unveil their 2023 schedule with a lineup of prestigious regional and national events.
The season kicks off with the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday, September 2, at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va.. This home event will be held on the same course layout as the 2024 USA Cross Country Championships. The men will compete in a 6K race, while the women will tackle a 4K distance. Over ten teams are expected to participate in the event including American University, Georgetown, University of Virginia, George Mason, William & Mary and Delaware.
Next on the schedule is the Adidas XC Challenge on Friday, September 15, in Cary, NC. This meet will bring together top-notch athletes from various collegiate programs, providing the Spiders with an excellent opportunity to test themselves on the WakeMed Course.
On Friday, September 29, the team will travel to South Bend, IN, for the renowned Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. This event is known for attracting elite runners from across the nation and promises to provide a significant challenge for the Spiders.
October brings the XC 23 Invite on Friday, October 14, in Charlottesville, Va.. This event, hosted by the University of Virginia, offers a chance for the Spiders to preview the 2024 NCAA Championships course.
The Atlantic 10 Championships will take place on Saturday, October 28, in Dayton, OH. This conference championship event will be a pivotal moment for the Spiders as they aim to reclaim conference titles.
The team will then head to Spartanburg, SC, for the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Friday, November 10. This competition will be a stepping stone towards qualifying for the ultimate collegiate cross country event; the NCAA Championships which will be held Saturday, November 18, in Charlottesville, Va..
Following their successful collaboration with USATF Virginia and the Collegiate Running Association in hosting the 2023 USATF National Cross Country Championships, the University of Richmond is proud to also support hosting the prestigious 2024 USATF National Cross Country Championships. This event will take place on Saturday, January 20, at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, VA, and is set to attract the nation's top runners.
