Richmond Women's Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Squad Honors

NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – The University of Richmond Women's Lacrosse program has once again been named an Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Teams that earn the honors must have posted a 3.2 or higher GPA for the academic year.
Along with the team honor, nine Spiders were named to the IWLCA's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Taking home this year's honors were Emilie Bloyer (Sr. Biochemistry/Molecular Biology), Sophia DiCenso (Sr. Philosophy/Politics), Sarah Roycroft (Jr. Business Administration), Arden Tierney (Sr. Business Administration), Maggie Jordan (Jr. Chemistry), Kat Kelley (Sr. Rhetoric and Communications), Katherine Lutz (Jr. Health Studies/Biology), Maddy Sesay (Jr. Philosophy/Politics) and Becca Sturtz (Jr. Business Administration).
Head coach Anne Harrington spoke on the teams honors, "At Richmond, we strive to excel in the classroom and compete at the highest level on the field. This group is a great example of following through on those priorities. I am proud of the work that each of them has put in to earn this recognition".
Sticking to their commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, the Spiders rounded out their 2023 season with a 17-4 overall record that was highlighted by champion status in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where the program saw its first ever opening round victory (vs. Marquette, 18-8).
