McMeeking Scores Twice in Victory over Georgetown

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Field Hockey team didn't back down Sunday, posting three goals in the third quarter to defeat Georgetown University 4-1 at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond (2-2) heads on the road for their next four games, first heading to California to take on Stanford Friday September 8 and UC Davis Sunday September 10.
Jess McMeeking put the Spiders on the board first in the sixth minute of the contest, slipping a shot past the Hoyas' keeper on a pass from Annie Nash, for her first collegiate goal.
Georgetown (0-4) put a high shot in the back of the net in the 25th minute to even the contest.
The third quarter Spider scoring was kicked off by Madi Hyatt in the 32nd minute, aided by Alexandria Lavelle off a penalty corner play.
Stevie Drum tallied her second goal of the season two minutes later, slapping home a shot off passes by Hyatt and McMeeking in the 34th minute.
McMeeking slammed the door on the Hoyas with her second goal of the day in the 39th minute, putting in a high rebound in the back of the net.
The Spiders held the upper hand in shots, 21-12, with 12 in the third quarter. UR also dominated penalty corner calls, 15-6, with six in the first quarter and seven in the third quarter.
Richmond goalkeeper Kristen Rake tallied seven more saves to push her season total to 18. Freya MacKay tallied her first defensive save of the season in the first quarter.
