Spiders Tabbed Preseason No. 20 in Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Preseason Polls

Richmond, Va.— The University of Richmond Men's Lacrosse team came in at No. 20 in the USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse Preseason Polls.
The Spiders are coming off their fifth NCAA tournament appearance in 2023 after putting together an 11-5 season and winning the first-ever Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse title at Robins Stadium.
Richmond went a perfect 9-0 at home for just the second time in program history in 2023 and nine Spiders were named to All-Atlantic 10 teams including the Offensive (Dalton Young), Midfield (Lance Madonna) and Rookie (Aidan O'Neil) Players of the Year as well as four All-Rookie selections, all of which return in 2024. Young and Madonna were also named All-American Honorable Mentions by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Richmond returns over 85 percent of its scoring power from a year ago as well as eight starters including the entire starting attack in Young, O'Neil and Grayum. Young led the team in points last season via 32 goals and 41 assists, while Grayum (27 goals, 18 assists) and O'Neil (25 goals, 12 assists) were third and fourth, respectively.
This year's schedule features four home matchups against teams ranked in the USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Preseason Top 20 including No. 2 Duke (March 16), No. 3, Virginia (Feb. 17), No. 5 Maryland (Feb. 3) and No. 12 Georgetown (March 23).
Young and Madonna have been named All-American Honorable Mentions by USA Lacrosse so far this preseason.
The Spiders open the 2024 season at home on Saturday, Feb. 3 against Maryland at 1:00.
