Spider Baseball Adds 10 For 2025 Season

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond Baseball head coach Mik Aoki is excited to welcome 10 new faces to the Spider Baseball program for the 2025 season. The group of five pitchers, three infielders and two outfielders will hit campus in fall of 2024 as part of Aoki's first class of recruits at the helm of the program.
Spider Baseball's newcomers include: Virginian's TJ Addonizio and Paul Witkop, Pennsylvania natives Trevor Dosenbach and Grant Kennedy, James Fagnant from Connecticut, Max Genderson out of Washington, D.C., Joey Giordano of New Jersey, Angel Santiago-Cruz of Severna Park, Md., Glenn Smith, Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Sam Young from San Mateo, Calif.
TJ Addonizio, an infielder from Henrico, Va., joins the Spiders after three varsity letterman seasons at The Frederick Gunn School in Connecticut. A two-time team captain, he was named All-League Western New England Prep Baseball League First Team in 2023 and Second Team in 2022. He also collected the Gutwillig Baseball Award for Best Hitter, in 2023 after batting over .400 his junior season. Addonizio also led the Post 125 Richmond Legion team with a .440 average, 1.088 OPS in 50 at bats and an appearance in the Virginia State Tournament this past summer.
Trevor Dosenbach, an outfielder from West Grove, Pa., is a four-year starter at Avon Grove High where he helped the program to two 6A Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament berths, including a 2023 state championship appearance. Dosenbach has collected two All-Chestmont First Team honors, as well as All-Area First Team and Second Team accolades.
James Fagnant, an infielder from East Granby, Conn., heads to Richmond as a four-year starting letterman. He collected three All-North Central Conn. Conference honors, two First Team All-State accolades and served as East Granby High baseball team captain. In the 2023 season, he hit .458, with .582 OBP and slugged .746 while pitching 33 and two-thirds of an inning, striking out 44 and only allowing nine walks. He also played travel baseball at the 2023 Fall American Legion Conn. State Championship, the Area Code Baseball Championship, East Coast Pro Showcase Championship, Perfect Game Nationals and PBR All New England.
Max Genderson, a right-handed pitcher from Washington, D.C., is a three-year starter on the hill for The Maret School baseball program. As a sophomore, he helped the Frogs to a 2022 MAC Conference title. Genderson also plays travel baseball with the Richmond Braves.
Joey Giordano, a left-handed pitcher from Montvale, N.J., is a four-year varsity starter for the Pascack Hills Broncos baseball program. In 2023, Giordano helped the Broncos to a Big North-Patriot Championship, Sectional title, and a N.J. State Championship. After his junior season, Giordano collected first team All-League, All-County and All North Jersey honors. Giordano also has thrown three no-hitters, collected seven All-Tournament Perfect Game team honors, and was named 2022 and 2023 Perfect Game Preseason All-American.
Grant Kennedy, an outfielder from Phoenixville, Pa., heads to Richmond as a three-year varsity letterman for the Malvern Preparatory School baseball program. Kennedy helped the Malvern Prep squad to back-to-back Inter-Academic League Championships in 2022 and 2023 and a PAISAA Championship in 2023 with a 28-6 record. He also plays travel baseball for the PBT BellRingers.
Angel Santiago-Cruz, an infielder and right-handed pitcher from Severna Park, Md., joins the Spiders as a three-year letterman for the Severna Park High Falcons baseball program. He helped the squad to the Maryland State Finals in 2022 and Maryland State Semifinals in 2023. He collected First Team All-County accolades as a junior and Preseason All-County honors as a senior. Playing travel baseball with the Dirtbags All-Blacks, Santiago-Cruz made the Top-16 at WWBA East Cobb and advanced to Jupiter, Fla., to compete at nationals.
Glenn Smith, Jr., a right-handed pitcher from Austin, Texas, travels east as a four-year varsity starter for the St. Michael's Catholic Academy baseball program. He has helped the squad to multiple district titles while collecting First Team All-District, Honorable Mention All-State, Academic All-State and served as team captain. He has also suited up for the Canes Southwest travel baseball team.
Paul Witkop, a right-handed pitcher from McLean, Virginia, joins Richmond as a four-year letterman and three-year starter on the hill for The Potomac School baseball program. Witkop helped the Panthers to a 20-5 record in 2023, the most victories in program history, while collecting MAC regular season and tournament titles. He has also twice garnered All-MAC honors, while being named VISAA First Team All-State and earning Honorable Mention Washington Post All-Metro accolades.
Sam Young, a right-handed pitcher and infielder from San Mateo, Calif., heads to campus as a three-year varsity starter and team captain for the Gryphon Baseball program. In 2023, Young led the league with 79 strikeouts and put together a 0.74 ERA with a no hitter. He collected Peninsula Player of the Year honors as well as All-Peninsula First Team accolades for a second season. With travel baseball team Alpha Baseball, he helped the squad to a 2022 USA Baseball National Team Championship and 2021 PBR West Summer Championship.
