Spider Swimming and Diving Announce 2024-2025 Schedule; Preseason Poll Announced

RICHMOND, Va. – Head coach Matt Barany announced Richmond's 2024-2025 swim and dive schedule Tuesday, the same day the Atlantic 10 released the preseason poll.
2024-2025 Schedule
The Spiders open the season with the Richmond Duals on Oct. 11-12. Davidson, George Mason and Duquesne will meet UR at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.
On Nov. 1-2, Richmond will host the Penn and ECU Dual Meet at Robins Center Natatorium and SwimRVA. Later in the month, the Spiders will take their first road of the season trip to Fairfax, Va. to compete in the Patriot Duals from November 21-23.
On Dec. 11-14, Richmond will head to Greensboro, N.C. to compete in the Speedo Winter Junior Championships. Then on Sunday, Dec. 15, the Spiders will compete at the College National Open Water Championship hosted by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in Miami, Fla.
Kicking off the New Year, Richmond will host its last home meet of the season welcoming Villanova on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Robins Center Natatorium.
Heading to Annapolis, Md. the Spiders will compete against Navy on Friday, Jan. 24. The following day, Richmond will meet JMU in Harrisonburg, Va. for the last competition of the month.
Richmond will close the regular season as it competes Feb. 7-9. Select Spiders will either compete in the Virginia Tech Diving Invite in Blacksburg, Va., or the Cavalier Invite in Charlottesville, Va.
Heading into the postseason, Richmond will be in familiar territory as it competes at the Hampton Aquaplex for the Atlantic 10 Championship Feb. 19-22. Last season, the Spiders finished second, bringing home five medals.
Spider diving will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships when it takes on NCAA Diving Zones March 11-13.
The NIC Championships, hosted by the CSCAA, will take place March 14-16. Finally, the 2024-2025 campaign will come to a close with the NCAA Championships, March 19-22 in Federal Way, Wash.
"This group is inexperienced and that's a blessing," said Barany. "We'll take purposeful steps to develop our standards and style with the hope of being part of the story at the championship meet in February.

Earlier Tuesday, the A-10 announced the Swimming and Diving 2024-2025 Preseason poll. Richmond was tabbed to finish second.
Last year, the Spiders finished second in the Atlantic 10 Championships behind a gold medal finish in the 50 free, a silver finish in the 200 free relay, and three bronze finishes in the 200 free, 1650 free, and the 400 free relay.
GW was the favorite with 10 out of 11 possible first-place votes. Richmond was picked to finish second with one first-place vote. Below is the entire poll as follows:
