Men's Lacrosse Unveils 2025 Schedule
12/05/2024 | Men's Lacrosse
Entering its 12th season, Richmond has claimed five conference titles across three different leagues and has made five NCAA Tournament appearances, all under the guidance of Chemotti.
This season, the Spiders will host Robert Morris (Feb. 8), Cornell (March 2), Mercyhurst (March 4), UMBC (March 8), Duke (March 15), St. Bonaventure (March 29), High Point (April 12), and UMass (April 19) at Robins Stadium. On the road, Richmond will face Maryland (Feb. 1), Virginia (Feb. 15), Lehigh (Feb. 22), Georgetown (March 22), Hobart (April 5), and Saint Joseph's (April 25), before heading back to Philadelphia for the Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse Championship, hosted by Saint Joseph's.
As it has for the past two years, Richmond will open the season against 2024 national runner-up Maryland on Feb. 1. The Spiders are 0-4 all-time against the Terrapins, but three of those games were decided by just one goal, including last year's 12-11 double-overtime loss.
Richmond will play its first home game of the season on Feb. 8, hosting Robert Morris for the first time. The two teams met at a neutral site last season, with the Spiders earning a dominant 23-7 victory. In that game, Richmond's 23 goals tied for the second-most in program history. Aidan O'Neil, who led the Spiders with six goals and six assists, set the program record for most points in a single game. O'Neil's six goals tied for the second-most in a single game, and his six assists rank third all-time in the Richmond record books.
The Spiders then embark on a two-game road swing, beginning with a visit to Virginia on Feb. 15 and a matchup with Lehigh on Feb. 22. Both teams finished in the top 20 in 2024, with Virginia ending at No. 4 and Lehigh ranked No. 16.
Richmond will face a pair of first-time opponents when Cornell (ranked 14th in the final poll of 2024) comes to Robins Stadium for a Sunday matinee on March 2, followed by a midweek contest with newly-Division I program Mercyhurst on March 4.
The Spiders will then host UMBC on March 8. Richmond is 5-3 all-time against the Retrievers, including a 13-4 victory in their most recent meeting last season.
Duke, which finished No. 6 in 2024, returns to Robins Stadium on March 15, after facing the Spiders a year ago. Richmond's final non-conference game will be a road contest at Georgetown on March 22, with the Hoyas finishing No. 8 last season.
Richmond opens conference play at home against St. Bonaventure on March 29. The Spiders have outscored the Bonnies 62-21 in their three all-time meetings. Richmond then heads to Geneva, N.Y. for a contest with Hobart on April 5, the third-ever meeting between the two programs.
On April 12, rival High Point visits Robins Stadium, followed by UMass on April 19. Richmond will then travel to Philadelphia for a matchup against 2024 Atlantic 10 champion Saint Joseph's, (who finished 13th last season) on April 25, before competing in the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Saint Joseph's the following weekend.
In just 11 seasons, Richmond has made 10 consecutive appearances in a conference title game. The Spiders have reached the conference championship every year of the program's existence, with the exception of 2020 when no tournament was held.
Tickets for all eight Richmond home games will go on sale in January.
