Swimming and Diving Finishes Second at Atlantic 10 Championships with Historic Fourth Day

Hampton, Va. – The University of Richmond swimming and diving program concluded their final day of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships with two podium visits, solidifying the second place conference finish.
Saturday morning consisted of preliminaries in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 3 meter diving. Eleven Spiders excelled in their respective events, moving onto the finals:
Katelyn Pennell and Caroline Weldon represented Richmond in the A-Finals of the 200 back. Pennell took the 5th place finish at 1:57.52 and Weldon took 7th place finish at 1:59.19, tying the No. 8 mark in program history. Carstyn Klosterman swam in the B-Finals, taking the 1st place finish in the heat and 9th overall place at 1:57.93, a new personal best.
Melissa Nwakalor ended her 100 free finals performance in 6th place at 50.02, the No. 5 mark in program history. Lucy Yeomans followed soon behind in 7th place at 50.09, the No. 6 mark in program history.
Presley Baber took part in the 200 breast B-Finals, staying true to her preliminary performance with the 12thplace finish at 2:18.92, an updated personal best for the freshman.
Emma Martin finished in 14th place in the 200 fly finals at 2:03.20, a personal best for the senior.
Sally Harrington claimed the 7th place finish in the 3 meter diving A-Finals with a score of 263.95.
Richmond ended the evening in style, taking the 3rd place finish and bronze medal in the 400 free relay. Lucy Yeomans, Melissa Nwakalor, Megan Carson and Katelyn Pennell came together for the successful finish at 3:20.71, a new program record in the event. This podium visit marked both Carson and Nwakalor's third medals of the week.

- Melissa Nwakalor (100 free – 50.47 – No. 8 in program history – 8th place)

- Emma Martin (200 fly – 2:03.76 – 12th place)
- Kaitlyn Bauer (200 fly – 2:04.97 – 15th place)
- Sally Harrington (3 meter diving – 247.60 points – 4th place)
- Lola Dragosavac (3 meter diving – 236.50 points – 11th place)
- Tess Weatherhead (3 meter diving – 232.60 points – 13th place)
