New York, N.Y. – Alicia Dawson and Elizabeth Stockman led the Richmond track and field program once again through competition this weekend at the Scarlet Knight Open in New York City hosted by Rutgers. Both Spiders broke Richmond program records in their respective events.
Alicia Dawson has been on an impressive hot streak since joining the Spiders in the Fall of 2023. The reigning Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Week shattered the program record in the long jump (previously set by Kayla Woods in 2022 – 6.09m) with a measurement of 6.12m. This mark earned her the 1st place finish in the event. Dawson's new personal best stands as No. 1 in the Atlantic 10, No. 5 in the ECAC and No. 51 in the NCAA. Dawson found success in the triple jump as well, taking the 2nd place finish with a jump of 12.27m.
Elizabeth Stockman, last week's Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week has been a key piece for this successful Richmond squad through the season. At the Scarlet Knight Open Stockman was the next Spider to climb atop a program record, taking the 1st place finish in the 3000m with a new personal best of 9:26.32 (previously set by Madison Trippett in 2023 – 9:29.08).
Madison Trippett followed close behind Stockman in the 3000m at 9:29.60, finishing in 2nd place.
Laurel Kurtz took the 2nd place finish in the 5K at 17:13.54, a new personal best for the Spider.
The 600m was highlighted by performances from Caroline Donohoe (4th place – 1:32.49 – personal best – No. 4 in program history), Morgan Lyons (5th place – 1:33.03 – personal best – No. 5 in program history) and Virginia Beringer (7th place – 1:33.60 – personal best – No. 7 in program history).
Richmond found major success in the 1000m as five Spiders finished within the top-10:
Freshman Gabrielle Cummings was a bright point for the team in the 60m, advancing to the championship round, taking the 7th place finish with a personal best of 7.76 (No. 10 in program history).
