03/10/2024 | General, Men's Basketball, Spider Athletic Fund
A regular season men's Atlantic 10 championship and a women's sweep of the regular season and A10 tournament championships will headline the final regularly-scheduled edition of Behind The Web with men's basketball coach Chris Mooney this Monday Mar. 11 from 6-7pm, at World of Beer Bar and Kitchen, 11600 W. Broad Street. The live radio show, hosted by Voice of the Spiders Bob Black, will air on 106.1 ESPN, richmondspiders.com and espnrichmond.com. Graduate forward Isaiah Bigelow and women's head coach Aaron Roussell will be the guests.
Bigelow is third on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) and first in rebounding (6.3 rpg).  He is among the Top 20 in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding, free throw percentage (80%) and three-point field goal percentage (40%). The Greensboro, NC native eclipsed 1,000 career points earlier this season.
Roussell, the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, guided the Spiders to a 29-5 record, the first conference title since 1991 and the first NCAA appearance since 2005. In the A10 tournament, the Spiders won each of their three games by at least 14 points, including Sunday's 65-51 championship game victory over Rhode Island.
The Spider men's team, which secured its first-ever A10 regular season title with last Wednesday's victory over Saint Joseph's, earned the number one seed with a 15-3 conference mark, which set a program record for A10 wins. Richmond, which went 18-3 after starting the season 5-5, will play its first tournament game at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NYÂ Thursday at 11:30am against the winner of the No. 8 George Mason vs. No. 9 Saint Joseph's first round game.Â
