Spiders Fly Past Hawks to Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse program extended its conference record to 4-0 on Saturday with the 16-12 win over Saint Joseph's. Eight different Spiders pushed through goals on the day, leading to massive success on the offensive side of the ball.
The Spiders dominated the first half, outscoring the Hawks in both quarters putting the lead at halftime to 10-3. Saint Joseph's put together a strong plan during the break, winning quarter three (4-3) and quarter four (5-3). The efforts through the last two periods for the Hawks was not strong enough to break through Richmond's major first half contributions. Richmond ended the afternoon with a 16-12 win over the conference foe of Saint Joseph's. With this victory, the Spiders extend their overall record to 8-2 and remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0.
Colleen Quinn and Alexis Morton were offensive twins through gameplay, each tallying 6 points from 4 goals and 2 assists. Quinn, the current Richmond goal and point leader went 1-2 from the free position. Morton, the current Richmond assist leader went 1-1 from the free position. Morton added a ground ball to her stat sheet as well against the Hawks.
Grace Muldoon and Maggie Jordan each found the back of the net twice for scores. Muldoon found success on the defensive end as well with 1 ground ball and 3 draw controls. Jordan made her presence felt on all levels of the field, also contributing with 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover and 6 draw controls.
Four other Spiders were able to find the back of the net for individual goals through the game, aiding in other stat categories as well:
Clare McCooe dominated the draw circle once again, totaling 7 draw controls in the win, a game high through both programs.
Abby Francioli the freshman from Baltimore, MD. had another great day in cage with 13 saves, posting a .520 save percentage.
Up next, the Spiders take the long week in preparation to host St. Bonaventure on Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m.
