Richmond Track & Field Ready for Split Weekend at Virginia Challenge and CNU Captains Classic

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond track and field program will return to action this weekend as the team is set to split in two groups for the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia and the CNU Captains Classic hosted by Christopher Newport University. Both competitions will span from April 19-20.
The Virginia Challenge will open at 1:45 p.m. on Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Follow live results here.
Competition at the CNU Captains Classic will open at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Follow live results here.
Last weekend Virginia Beringer led the Spiders to success at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton. She put on an impressive performance in the 4x400 relay, taking the 1st place finish at 3:46.90. A group from Delaware fell behind the Spiders in 2nd place, finishing nearly 5 seconds after Richmond, the largest margin of time in the event between all teams. Beringer also dominated the 400m with another 1st place mark. She beat out 34 other athletes with a time of 56.72. Nina Lavelle followed close behind finishing in 4th at 57.62.
