Carson, Pennell and Yeomans Named to Atlantic 10 Swim & Dive All-Academic Team

Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond swimmers Megan Carson, Katelyn Pennell and Lucy Yeomans have been named to the Atlantic 10's All-Academic Team announced by the conference on Thursday.
In February, the program was named a 2023 Fall Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming and Diving Association of America (CSCAA). The team earned the 2nd highest GPA in the country at 3.79 (behind the 3.80 team GPA of Marshall). Carson, Pennell and Yeomans were heavy contributors to this team accolade.
Megan Carson, the CSC Academic All-District member and 1x Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, has continued to be a leader for the Richmond squad not only in the pool, but the classroom. She aided in the Spiders 2nd place finish at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships with the following performances: finished 3rd in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:40.47 (2nd fastest in program history), earned bronze in the 200 Free with a time of 1:48.74 (4th fastest in program history), was a member of the 400 free relay team that earned bronze with a time of 3:20.71 (a new program record) and was a member of the 800 free relay team which placed 4th.
Katelyn Pennell, another CSC Academic All-District member, not only stood on top of conference standings with athletic efforts, but she also stands atop in her studies as well. She was a key piece to the Spiders successful run at the Atlantic 10 Championships with the following performances: She was a member of the 400 free relay team that earned bronze with a time of 3:20.71 (program record), 4th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.92 (5th fastest in program history), 5th in the 200 back, was a member of the 200 medley relay team which placed 4th, a member of the 800 free relay team which placed 4th and a member of the 400 medley relay team which placed 5th.
Lucy Yeomans, the CSC Academic All-District member has been a dedicated leader of the Richmond squad on all levels of the student-athlete title. Yeomans aided in the Spiders 2nd place finish at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships with the following performances: 2nd in the 100 free with a time of 49.90 (4th fastest in program history), was a member of the 400 free relay team that earned bronze with a time of 3:20.71 (new program record), 4th in the 50 free with a time of 22.90 (4th fastest in program history), was a member of the 200 free relay team that earned silver with a time of 1:31.53 and a member of the 400 medley relay team which placed 5th.
Richmond is the only school to have more than two athletes honored as Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team members.
