Spider Hockey Adds Nine to 2024 Squad

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond field hockey head coach Martu Loncarica has announced the addition of nine new members, three transfers and six true freshmen, to the program for the fall 2024 season.
"We are excited to welcome a talented group of players to our team this season," Loncarica said. "This incoming class brings a diverse set of skills, experiences, and a commitment for excellence both on and off the field.
"We look forward to integrating these new members into our team culture and achieving great success together."
Defenders Avery Bradburn, Emme Hinson-Hasty, and Victoria Stockdale join midfielders Grace Wiggins, Margaret Scheurer and Sarah Ellis to make up the six-person freshman class. Sophomores Camila Daud and Clara Larripa, both from Buenos Aires, Argentina, join the squad after competing for La Salle last season. UR rounds out the squad with Valen Luna Paratore, a member of Argentina's U21 national team and 1st "A" Division GEBA team.
Bradburn, at native of Lancaster, Pa., was a four-year varsity letter winner and a three-year starter for the Penn Manor High field hockey program. She helped the Penn Manor squad to Selection 1 Championships twice and Lancaster Lebanon League Championships three times. As a team captain her senior season, Bradburn was named All-State First Team, All-League in 2023, as well as LL League All-Star First Team, LL League Academic All-Star. She was also named to the NFHCA Senior Impact and NFHCA All-Academic Teams in 2023. With her club team X-Calibur, Bradburn helped the squad to National and Regional Club Championships berths (2023, 2022), JPOL Championships (2021, 2023), and NIT Pool Championship (2021).
Daud, a midfielder, started in 18 of 19 contests for the Explorers. She tallied one point, collecting an assist against Saint Louis (Oct. 13). She took 13 shots with four landing on goal. Daud served as a team captain her junior and senior prep seasons at Saint Mary of the Hills School in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Ellis, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was a four-year starter for the Princess Anne High program and helped the squad to four-straight VHSL 5A Regional Semifinal appearances. Ellis was named to the VHSL 5A All-Region First Team four-straight seasons, a 757 Senior All-Star Game starter and served as a two-time team captain. With her club team, Saints Field Hockey, Ellis participated in the Nexus Championship (2022, 2023) and a national ranking as high as eighth in 2023. Ellis was also a four-year member of the PAHS indoor and outdoor track team and was All-State in the 800m in 2023.
Hinson-Hasty, a native of Louisville, Ky., was a three-year starter on the varsity squad at duPont Manual High School. She helped the program to three-straight Kentucky Region 4 Championships and Kentucky State semifinal berths (2021, 2022, 2023). In her senior season, she helped the squad to 10 shutouts and held opponents to 1.7 goals per game average while the team scored 4.1 goals per game. After her senior season in 2023, Hinson-Hasty was named to KHSAA All-State First Team, KHSAA Senior All-Star Team, NFHCA High School Watch List, NFHCA All-Region Team nominee, and duPont Manual Defensive MVP. Hinson-Hasty played with club team Stealth Field Hockey (2018-2024) and helped the squad to regional and national championship selections to the USA Field Hockey Nexus tournaments in back-to-back seasons (2022, 2023).
Larripa, a forward, paced La Salle with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists. One of her four game-winning goals, an overtime winner over VCU, sealed the Explorers first postseason berth since 2011. She put together a .632 shots-on-goal percentage, putting 24 of her 38 shots on goal in 19 starts. Larripa also collected Atlantic 10 Conference First Team and NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team accolades after pacing the league in goals, second in game winning goals and third in points. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Larripa was a team captain for her prep team, St. Trinnean's Aires, and collected Best Sportman and Best Player of the Team awards.
Luna Paratore, a forward, has played with the Argentina U21national team since 2022 while playing with the first division of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires (GEBA) club team. Luna Paratore also played with the U19 Buenos Aires squad and helped the team to a first-place finish in 2023. Earlier this year, she was selected to play on the senior Buenos Aires team.
Scheurer, a native of Charlotte, N.C., was a four-year varsity starter for the Charlotte Country Day School hockey program. She helped the squad to NCISAA State Championships in 2021 and 2023 and NCISAA runner-up finish in 2020. Scheurer was named to NCISSA First Team All-State and CISAA First Team All-Conference in both 2022 and 2023. She also garnered MAX Mid-Atlantic Region Player to Watch (2023), NFHCA Watch List, NFHCA All-Region South Team, NFHCA HS National Academic Squad accolades as a senior in 2023. Scheurer led her team in scoring for two-straight seasons and was named to the Charlotte All-Observer Team and selected for the NC All-Star Game in 2022 and 2023.
Stockdale, a native of Darien, Conn., was a four-year member of the Darien High varsity team, three-season starter and served as team captain as a senior. She helped the program to three FCIAC championship titles (2021, 2022, 2023), a Connecticut State Championships (2022) and a state runner-up title (2023) while putting together a 65-3 record over three seasons. Stockdale was named GameTime CT 23 CIAC Players to Watch, Ruden Top 15 Players to Watch, FCIAC Honorable Mention twice, and Max Field Hockey Top 25 National Team. Stockdale also helped her club team, AGH, to top finishes at Nexus, and National Hockey Festival and two titles at the National Indoor Tournament. She also helped the team to a regional title at Club Championships and a runner-up title at the National Club Championship.
Wiggins, a native of Mitlon, Del., helped the Cape Henlopen High field hockey program to three Delaware State Division I Championships in 2020, 2021 and 2023, as the team went 63-7 in her four letterman seasons. She garnered DFHCA All-State First Team (2022, 2023), NFHCA First Team All-Region (2023), All-Conference First Team (2022, 2023), NFHCA Watch List (2023) and served as team captain as a senior in 2023. Wiggins also was named as a NFHCA Senior Impact Team member in 2023. Wiggins helped her club team, Shorebyrds Field Hockey, collect championship hardware at many national and regional tournaments and festivals, including the U16 NIT (2020, 2021), U19 NTS (2022), Winter Festival (2020-22), JPOL (2023), U19 NIT Silver (2023). Wiggins was also a highly decorated prep lacrosse player.
