Northborough, Mass. - The University of Richmond Women's Lacrosse program has once again been named an Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Teams that earn the honors must have posted a 3.2 or higher GPA for the academic year.
Along with the team honor, eight Spiders were named to the IWLCA's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Taking home this year's honors were Maggie Jordan, Katherine Lutz, Clare McCooe, Megan Rice, Sarah Roycroft, Maddy Sesay, Caroline Stevens and Becca Sturtz.
Head coach Anne Harrington spoke on the teams' honors, "Richmond is a place where you can have the best of both worlds. We work hard to earn an elite education and compete for championships. It's an honor for the team and these individuals to be recognized for their achievements in the classroom this year".
Sticking to their commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, the Spiders rounded out their 2024 season with a 13-6 overall record that was highlighted by champion status in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where the program met the No. 8 nationally ranked squad of UPenn.
