Rake Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond goalkeeper Kristen Rake has been named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Rake is the third Spider to earn a weekly honor this season.
Rake led UR to a 1-1 weekend to move to 4-2 on the season. Rake guided the Spider defense to hold No. 8 Ohio State to two goals and the Buckeyes leading scorer to an assist when the squad came into the Friday night game averaging five goals a game.
She picked up her third win of the season Sunday over Longwood. Rake made three saves as the UR defense held the Lancers to just seven shots and broke up all three of LU's corners.
With five games in goal, Rake paces the league with 35 saves and averages 7.00 saves per game. She is third with a 1.782 goals against average.
The Spiders open A-10 action Friday at Saint Louis with at 3 p.m. ET contest on ESPN+.
