
Spiders Drop First A-10 Match at Dayton Sunday Afternoon

DAYTON, Ohio. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team dropped its first Atlantic 10 Conference match of the year with a 4-0 loss at Dayton Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Spiders fell to 3-4-2 on the season and an even 1-1 in A-10 play while the Flyers improved to 7-3-0 overall and 1-1 in conference action.

How it Happened
Dayton wasted no time finding its offensive footing as the team posted two shots within the first five minutes. After a few fouls from the Spiders, UD was able to get a shot off in the 10th minute before capitalizing in the 20th minute off a cross into the Spider box. After exchanging possession, the Flyers added a goal to their lead in the 34th minute. Kathryn Lennon would have a close look on frame in the 36th minute, but would be collected by the UD keeper as Richmond ended the first half down a pair of goals.
Dayton continued its offensive threat in the second half as a yellow card in the 61st minute for Richmond led to a penalty kick goal. Anna Garcia would have a shot in the 67th minute, but was saved by the opposition. In the 81stminute, Dayton was able to add its final goal after a scramble inside the Spider box. Casey Merz would have a final look in the 85th minute, but would be wide right as Richmond dropped the match 4-0.
