RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond field hockey's Valen Luna Paratore was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday. This is Luna Paratore's second weekly honor and the program's fourth of the season.
In the Spiders 3-1 win over Saint Louis, Luna Paratore netted her third game-winning goal of the season in the 28th minute when she put in a pass from Alexa Derr in front of the net. Luna Paratore inserted the corner play, teammates Grace Wiggins and Jess McMeeking got shots off, but Derr corralled the rebound and got the ball to Luna Paratore for the score.
Luna Paratore is now second on the team with four goals, tied with fellow sophomore Avery Russell.
Richmond (5-2, 1-0) is back in action Friday when the squad hosts Davidson in A-10 action at 5 p.m. on ESPN-Plus at Crenshaw Field.
