Men's Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule
09/03/2024 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond men's basketball announced its non-conference schedule for the 2024-25 season Tuesday. UR's 13 out-of-conference games for the season will include six matchups at the Robins Center, four true road games, and three neutral-site contests at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla. over Thanksgiving week.
Richmond will open its defense of its 2024 Atlantic 10 regular season title with a pair of home games during the first week of the season. The Spiders will host Mount Olive in their season opener on November 6, then face Marist of the MAAC at the Robins Center on November 9.
The Spiders will have an early chance to test themselves away from home after their opening two-game stretch, as six of their next seven games will be played on road or neutral courts. Richmond will visit Charlotte on November 13 — the return game of a home-and-home series that began last season —and play at Bucknell on November 16.
UR will face Maine in the Robins Center on November 20 before heading to South Florida for Thanksgiving week. Richmond will play three games in three days at Hertz Arena in Fort Myers as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase, facing to-be-announced opponents on November 25, 26, and 27.
Following a 10-day break, Richmond's longest during its non-conference slate since 2018, the Spiders will play at Auburn on December 8.
The Spiders will play home games on the final three Saturdays of the non-conference season, hosting Belmont on December 14, VMI on December 21, and Florida Gulf Coast on December 28. Richmond will also play a road game at William & Mary on December 18 during that span.
Tip-off times and TV broadcast information for all Richmond non-conference games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as it becomes available. UR's full schedule, including conference games, will be announced later this month.
2023-24 season ticket holders are able to renew their seats by calling the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER1 or logging into their account and completing the Season Renewal Application. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets for the first time can submit a $50 deposit online. New season ticket holders will be contacted in late September to choose their seats for the season, and single-game tickets will go on sale in October.
The 2024-25 Spiders roster features nine newcomers on a team that is defending its 2024 Atlantic 10 regular season championship, the first in school history. The 2024-25 season will be head coach Chris Mooney's 20th at Richmond, making him the ninth-longest tenured coach in Division I.
