Luna Paratore Picks Up Third Weekly A-10 Rookie Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Richmond field hockey's Valen Luna Paratore for a third time this season after her performances against Davidson and Towson. Her third weekly league honor is the fifth time Richmond has been recognized this season.
Luna Paratore helped the Spiders to a 2-0 week by scoring three goals, including a game-winning goal, for six total points. For the season, she is second on the team with 14 points on seven goals, including four game-winners.
Against Davidson, Luna Paratore tallied her first multi-goal game of the season, scoring twice on four shots. She gave the Spiders the 2-1 lead in the 19th minute of the second quarter with a back hand shot into the upper corner of the cage. Lainey Nichols ran down the ball nearly to the corner and sent the ball into Luna Paratore for the score. Luna Paratore tied the game with 49 seconds left in regulation as the Spiders flipped the field. Grace Wiggins corralled a pass from Jess McMeeking in the middle of the field and pushed it up to Luna Paratore in the circle.
On Sunday against Towson, Luna Paratore tallied her fourth game-winning goal and seventh overall goal on the season on the Spiders corner play in the 64th minute in overtime. McMeeking inserted the ball to Luna Paratore who did a give-and-go with Clara Larripa for the score nearly four minutes into overtime.
