10/27/2025 | Field Hockey
WASHINGTON, DC – Richmond field hockey's Emma Williams was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is the Spiders seventh weekly honor of the season and Williams first.
Williams helped the Spiders to a 1-1 weekend, including a 5-1 victory over William & Mary on Senior Day (Oct. 26). Williams scored the first goal for Richmond in the third minute of action, when she cleaned up a loose ball that got behind the Tribe goalkeeper.
She was also a member of the Spiders defensive penalty corner unit that kept the Tribe to just two corners and did not relinquish a goal off a corner.
Williams and the Spiders (10-7, 4-1) close out the regular season Friday, Oct. 31, against crosstown rival VCU (13-3, 5-0) in a 3 p.m. match up at Cary Street Field with Atlantic 10 Championship seeding on the line.
