Amare, Bauer, Budde Lead Richmond with Four Wins at Loyola

BALTIMORE, Md. â The University of Richmond women's swimming and diving team picked up four first place finishes and several top-four finishes in Friday's dual meet at Loyola. Despite the wins, the Spiders fell to the Greyhounds 167 to 133.Â

The Spiders opened with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay as Caroline Weldon, Gabbie Primiano, Lena Amare and Presley Baber finished at 1:45.50. Richmond closed the meet with another second-place relay in the 400 freestyle as Baber, Julia Krichev, Lydia Sturgeon and Caitlyn Hughes finished at 3:33.99.

Kaitlyn Bauer led Richmond with wins in the 1000 free (10:24.22) and 500 free (5:05.84). Erin Budde added a victory in the 200 free (1:54.80) and a runner-up finish in the 500 free (5:08.43).

Highlighting the 100 fly (56.57) and the 100 free (51.83) was Lena Amare with a first place finishes. In the 100 IM, Amare earned a National Invitational Championship (NIC) Auto cut with a time of 57.46 finishing second. Primiano placed second in both the 50 breast (29.94) and 100 breast (1:04.53).

Other top Spider performances included Hughes, third in the 200 free (1:57.32) and third in the 100 free (54.14); Natalie Stuart, second in the 1000 free (10:27.57); and Julia Krichev, third in the 50 free (24.53).

In diving, Rachel Vandersea finished second on 3-meter (229.15) and fourth on 1-meter (214.05), while Sally Harrington took third on both boards (218.00, 222.30).

The Spiders return to the water for the Patriot Invite Nov. 19-22 in Fairfax, Va., at George Mason. Â
