Field Hockey Adds Liberty Transfer Malena Magnano

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore Malena Magnano will join the Richmond field hockey program as a midyear transfer from Liberty University, Spiders head coach Martu Loncarica announced Tuesday.
Magnano, a native of Necochea, Argentina, saw action in 17 contests over two seasons with the Flames. In her rookie season, Magnano scored her first collegiate goal against Quinnipiac in BIG EAST action and tallied an assist against William & Mary. She was also named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team and NFHCA National Academic Squad.
Magnano played three years for the Kellam High field hockey program after moving from Argentina. She finished her senior prep season with 34 goals and seven assists for 75 points in 17 games while helping Kellam to regionals collecting NFHCA High School All-American third team, All-South Region team, All-Tidewater second team and VHSL Class 5 All-State first team and VHSL Region 5B first team. As a sophomore she tallied 47 points on 20 goals and seven assists. She was named first team all-state and all region.
Magnano compete at the club level for Club Del Valle in Argentina from 2009-21 and played for TCOYO Hockey Club in the United States. She earned gold medals at the 2023 U18 USA Nexus Championship and 2022 U16/Rise USA Nexus Championship with TCOYO.
