
Richmond Captures Bronze in the 400 Medley Relay

HAMPTON, Va. – The University Richmond's women's swimming and diving team accomplished another successful day in the pool at the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Hampton Aquaplex. On the third day of the A-10 Championships the Spiders earned another medal and 13 swimmers advanced to the finals.Â

In the 100 fly, freshman Lena Amare led the way finishing sixth in the championship final with a personal best time of 55.00 and made a NIC B cut.Â

Three Spiders advanced to the 400 IM finals and made an NIC B cut. Junior Katie Chignell finished fifth with a personal best time of 4:18.20. Senior Laura Davis finished seventh with a time of 4:23.14. In the B final, Natalie Stuart finished 14th with a time of 4:26.83. Â

Sophomore Erin Budde and junior Caitlyn Hughes made the B finals in the 200 free. Budde made swam a personal best time of 1:50.46 and finished ninth. Hughes finished 11th with a time of 1:51.51.Â

In the 100 breast, Gabbie Primiano swam in the championship finals and finished fifth with a time of 1:02.10, making an NIC B cut. Sophomore Presley Baber also made an NIC B cut with a time of 1:02.78 and finished eighth.

In the 100 back, freshman Hannah Wieczorek led the way and finished fifth with a time of 54.38. Junior Caroline Weldon finished right behind in sixth with a time of 54.60. In the B final, senior Carstyn Klosterman finished ninth with a personal best time of 54.94. All three Spiders swam a NIC B cut in the finals.Â

Lastly, in the swimming portion, the Richmond 400 medley relay not only captured a bronze medal but also made an NIC B cut with a time of 3:40.50. Swimming the relay were Wieczorek (55.16), Primiano (1:02.38), Amare (55.08) and sophomore Melissa Nwakalor (47.88).Â

In the diving portion, juniors Sally Harrington and Tess Weatherhead advanced to the 3-meter diving finals. Weatherhead finished 13th with 248.85 points and teammate Harrington finished 16th with 229.60 points.
