O'Neil, Smith Take Home Week One Under Armour Atlantic 10 Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

Richmond, Va. — Two University of Richmond men's lacrosse players have been named week one Under Armour Atlantic 10 Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Aidan O'Neil was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in the season-opening loss to 2024 national runner-up and fifth-ranked Maryland on Saturday. Hunter Smith earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after collecting two ground balls and causing a turnover.
O'Neil led the Spiders offense, which outpaced the Terrapins 7-5 after halftime. His four goals were the most he's scored in a game since netting five against St. Bonaventure on March 30, 2024. This marks the 18th time O'Neil has recorded a multi-point performance. On the other side of the field, Smith was assigned to guard Maryland's dodging attackman, who was held scoreless under his coverage.
The Spiders will open their home schedule on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they host Robert Morris at noon at Robins Stadium.
