Flagstaff, Ariz. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team battled hard but came up short against Northern Arizona, falling 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the NAU Tennis Center. With the loss, the Spiders move to 4-3 on the season, while the Lumberjacks improve to 7-3.

How It Happened
Richmond started strong in doubles play, as Lara Bakhaya and Andrea Campodonico secured a 6-4 win on court one against NAU's Lara Duhl and Patryc Niewiadomska. However, Northern Arizona responded by taking the remaining two doubles matches, with Jantacova/Shoshyna (NAU) edging out Sofia Barbulescu and Elizabeth Novak 7-5 on court two and Noguera/Kovalenko (NAU) defeating Claire Le Du and Lainey O'Neil 6-1 on court three, giving NAU the doubles point.

In singles action, Richmond fought back as Bakhaya dominated on court four with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 win over Elen Jantacova (NAU), and Novak delivered a solid 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ruslana Kovalenko (NAU) on court five. However, Northern Arizona controlled the rest of the singles matches, clinching the overall win with victories on courts one, two, three, and six.

Patryc Niewiadomska (NAU) secured a 7-5, 6-2 win over Barbulescu on the top court, while Andrea Noguera (NAU) battled past Abby Lee in a three-set thriller, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Leontina Stojanovic (NAU) completed the win for the Lumberjacks, rallying for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory against Le Du on court six.
