Larripa, Williams Score in Spider Field Hockey OT Victory Over La Salle

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The University of Richmond field hockey team move to 2-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference action after capturing a 2-1overtime victory against La Salle Friday afternoon at The Proving Grounds.
Emma Williams tipped in Clara Larripa's pass from the left side of the circle to win the game and collect her first goal of the season.
Richmond, now 5-3 on the season, will face Temple Sunday at noon on ESPN+.
UR dominated possession in the contest, but La Salle got on the board first in the just 50 seconds before the end of the first quarter.
Richmond answered in the 22nd minute when Larripa took the direct pass in from inserter Alexa Derr on the Spiders second penalty corner of the second quarter. Larripa picked up her team-leading fifth goal of the season while Derr tallied her second helper.
Tied at the half, UR had the upper hand in shots, 7-2, and penalty corners, 3-1. UR goalkeeper Amanda Cimillo made her only save of the game in the second quarter.
The second half was a defensive battle, despite the Spiders offense fired off eight shots and collecting five penalty corners. The UR defense held the Explorers to just four shots in in the final 35:44 minutes of action.
