Women’s Lacrosse Picked as Atlantic 10 Preseason Favorite

WASHINGTON – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team has been picked as the preseason favorite for the fourth consecutive year in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll. Three Spiders were named to the preseason all-conference team.
The Spiders received eight first-place votes. Saint Joseph's was picked second with one first-place vote, Davidson followed in third and St. Bonaventure was picked fourth with one first-place vote. The remainder of the institutions finished five through 10: VCU, Rhode Island, George Mason, George Washington, Duquesne and La Salle.
In addition to being chosen as the preseason favorite, three Spiders were named to the preseason all-conference team: Alexis Morton at attack, Bridget Lonsinger at midfield and Reagan Quinn at defense.
Morton returns as Richmond's offensive playmaker, leading the Spiders in goals and assists. Last season, she totaled 76 points, second on the team, with 39 goals and 37 assists. She also tallied 14 ground balls, caused eight turnovers and collected one draw control. She currently ranks No. 10 all time in program history with 72 career assists.
Lonsinger returns to the midfield unit after earning A-10 All-Conference All-Rookie Team honors last season. She totaled 21 points with 14 goals and seven assists, 29 draw controls, 23 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers.
Quinn returns to Richmond's defensive unit as a lockdown defender. She appeared in 17 games and made five starts last season, consistently disrupting opposing offenses. Quinn totaled nine caused turnovers, four ground balls and one draw control, continuing to establish herself as a reliable defensive playmaker.
The Spiders open the season against No. 24 Penn State at noon at Robins Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 7.
