IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over UC Irvine on Tuesday afternoon at the UC Irvine Tennis Courts. With the win, the Spiders improve to 3-7 on the spring season while the Anteaters move to 9-5 overall.

How It Happened
Richmond opened the match by securing the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. Abby Lee and Sofia Barbulescu battled to a 7-6 (10-8) win over Carolyna Fowler and Amanda Perez at the top spot while Lainey O'Neil and Lucy Webber followed with a 7-5 decision against Yen Nhi Huynh and Maily Huynh on court two. UC Irvine picked up the final doubles match as Bella Pitchford and Quin Brady defeated Beatriz Guerra and Elizabeth Novak 7-5 on court three.

In singles play, UC Irvine evened the match early as Bella Pitchford defeated Beatriz Guerra 6-1, 6-4 on court five. Richmond answered with a victory from Lainey O'Neil, who posted a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win against Maily Huynh at No. 6 to push the Spider lead to 2-1.

The Anteaters pulled even again after Yen Nhi Huynh rallied past Sofia Barbulescu 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 on court one before taking a 3-2 advantage when Carolyna Fowler defeated Abby Lee 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3.

Richmond secured the team victory with wins on the final two courts. Elizabeth Novak battled through three sets to defeat Amanda Perez 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 on court two to tie the match before Lucy Webber closed the afternoon with a comeback victory at No. 4, defeating Haily Huynh 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to seal the 4-3 result.
