Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond faceoff specialist Vincent Gaylord has been named to Inside Lacrosse's Freshman Impact list, checking in as the No. 2 ranked first-year player in college lacrosse.
Gaylord earns the recognition following a standout start to his collegiate career, appearing in six of Richmond's first seven games and winning 61-of-107 faceoffs (57.0%), a mark that ranks 25th nationally. Though still early in his career, his faceoff win percentage currently ranks first all-time among Spiders who have taken 50 or more draws.
Gaylord was named to the prestigious USILA Team of the Week following Richmond's win over Cornell, where he went 10-of-16 at the stripe and collected a game-high five ground balls. Cornell entered the matchup leading the nation at over 70% on faceoffs, but Gaylord and the Spiders held the Big Red to just 39% in a game where possessions were at a premium.
In Richmond's Atlantic 10 opening win over Delaware, Gaylord continued his strong play, going 10-of-13 (76.9%) for his highest win rate of the season.
Prior to arriving on campus, Gaylord was named to Inside Lacrosse's Power 100 Freshmen list, ranking No. 75 overall and No. 5 among faceoff specialists in the class of 2029.
He currently leads the Spiders with 33 ground balls and recorded the first point of his collegiate career with an assist against Mercer.
