RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Baseball team had its three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday by Longwood, falling 9-4 at Pitt Field in the program's only meeting of the season.

Richmond, 8-5 on the season, returns to Pitt Field to host Binghamton on Friday to kick off a weekend series. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Longwood jumped on UR starter Mauricio Rodriguez in the first inning, tagging him for three runs on two hits and two walks and only getting one out. Angel Santiago-Cruz took over to get the other two outs of the first inning. Santiago-Cruz allowed two runs over two more innings of action on four hits, a walk and three strikeouts.

Richmond got on the board in the second inning when Aidan O'Keefe laced a two RBI base hit through the infield, picking up Joe Crenshaw and Grant Kennedy who both reached on walks.

Sean Scanlon launched a pinch hit, two-run home run over the outfield pavilion in right field in the sixth inning for the Spiders other two runs on the day.

Rookie pitchers Evan Wilson, Dom Ruggiero, Christian Dray and Aaron Van Tuyle all saw action. Wilson tossed an inning, allowing two runs on two hits, while Ruggiero also allowed two runs on two hits, but struck out four in two and a third of an inning of work. Dray got two ground outs in the seventh. Van Tuyle held Longwood scoreless, striking out two in an inning on the mound.

Justin Gay tossed the ninth, allowing just one hit, but got out of the inning when RJ Rickabaugh threw out the runner at second.
