RICHMOND, Va. — Amon Dörries, a 6'11" center from Potsdam, Germany, will transfer to Richmond and player for the Spiders this upcoming season.
Dörries, whose full name is pronounced AH-moan DURR-ee-ess, spent one record-setting season at Bucknell, scoring the most points by a freshman in program history and earning Second Team All-Patriot League and Patriot League All-Rookie Team honors in 2025-26. Dörries led Bucknell and ranked fifth in the Patriot League with 16.2 points per game, making him the 23rd highest scoring freshman in Division I last season.
Dörries became just the third freshman to lead Bucknell in scoring and the first since 1976-77, while his 534 total points were 67 more than any other first-year player in Bison history. He made 54% of his field goal attempts, fifth best among qualifiers in the Patriot League. On Jan. 31, 2026, he exploded for a season-high 36 points in a win over Boston, the most points ever scored in a game by a Bucknell freshman.
At the conclusion of the regular season, Dörries was the only Bison player named to the All-Patriot League Team, earning Second Team honors. He also became the first Bucknell player picked for the Patriot League's All-Rookie Team since 2015.
A native of Germany, Dörries has competed for the German national team at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup as well as other international competitions. He also spent time with ALBA Berlin in the top flight of German basketball in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Dörries is the second member of Richmond's 2026 transfer class, joining Butler guard Jamie Kaiser Jr.
