High Point, N.C. — In a meeting between the Atlantic 10's two remaining unbeaten teams in conference play, the University of Richmond men's lacrosse team defeated High Point, 19–10, on Friday night. The win secured an undefeated conference season for the third time in program history (2015, 2025) and marked the first time the program has achieved the feat in back-to-back seasons.
With the result, Richmond clinched the outright Atlantic 10 regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship— both for the second consecutive year. The victory also marked the program's 12th regular-season win, setting a new single-season record.
After a 4–4 tie at the end of the first quarter, Richmond outscored High Point 15–6 over the final three quarters, including a decisive five-goal run in the second quarter.
Richmond opened the scoring at the 13:57 mark of the first quarter on a goal from Daniel Picart, but High Point responded with three consecutive goals to take a 3–1 lead midway through the period. The Spiders answered with back-to-back goals from Lucas Littlejohn, both assisted by Picart, before Aidan O'Neil tied the game 4–4 with 3:03 remaining in the first quarter.
High Point briefly regained the lead early in the second quarter, but Richmond responded with a five-goal run. Joe Sheridan scored to tie the game, followed by goals from O'Neil and Littlejohn to give the Spiders a 7–5 advantage. After a High Point goal cut the margin to 9–6, Richmond closed the half with a goal from Gavin Creo to take a 10–6 lead into the break.
Richmond carried that momentum into the second half, outscoring High Point 4–1 in the third quarter. Goals from Creo, Cole Hayden, Jack Ricciardi, and Litteljohn extended the lead to 14–7, while the defense limited High Point's opportunities, forcing multiple turnovers and holding the Panthers to one goal in the period.
In the fourth quarter, Richmond continued to separate, opening with goals from O'Neil and Creo to push the lead to 16–9. O'Neil added another goal at 6:45, and Sheridan followed with his second of the game. Defenseman Nate Murphy capped the scoring at 3:04 with his first career goal on a three-quarter field shot, assisted by goalkeeper Connor Knight.
O'Neil finished with five goals and one assist, recording his second five-goal game of the season and ninth game of the year with at least five points. Littlejohn (4G, 1A) matched his season high with five points, while Creo (4G, 1A) recorded a career-high five points. Picart totaled four points (1G, 3A) with his three assists coming as a career-high, while Ricciardi added three points (1G, 2A) and Sheridan scored twice.
Knight made 10 saves in goal and added an assist, while Murphy led the defense with three caused turnovers.
The win extended Richmond's Atlantic 10 winning streak to 12 games and improved its all-time conference record to 19–2, pushing the team to a win rate over 90 percent (90.5%)
Richmond will face UMass in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
