RICHMOND, Va. — The University of Richmond women's basketball team has signed Alexandra Vandiver, a 6-foot-1 forward from Annapolis, Md., Head Coach Alisa Kresge announced Tuesday. Vandiver becomes the first signee of the Kresge era and will join the Spiders for the 2026-27 season.
Vandiver arrives at Richmond following a standout career at St. Mary's High School, where she developed into one of the most versatile players in the region. As a senior, she averaged 17.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from three-point range and a 59 percent shooting percentage. She led St. Mary's to a 20-5 record and a top-five ranking in the Baltimore Sun.
"Alexandra's versatility and competitiveness have stood out since the first time we saw her play, and she continues to elevate her game," Kresge said. "She's a blue-collar competitor who scores in a variety of ways and makes an impact on both ends of the court, doing whatever it takes to help her team win."
A consistent presence in high-impact moments, Vandiver recorded 13 double-doubles and one triple-double during her senior season. St. Mary's finished 13-0 in games in which she recorded 10 or more rebounds and also delivered key performances in championship settings, including a title win over the region's top-ranked team at the 695 Hoops Holiday Tournament.
Vandiver leaves St. Mary's as one of the most decorated players in program history. She totaled 1,584 career points, ranking fourth all-time, while setting school records with 1,001 rebounds and 238 three-point field goals. She shot 41 percent from beyond the arc for her career and holds single-season program records in assists, rebounds and three-pointers made. She finished with 50 career double-doubles and posted career highs of 44 points and 24 rebounds in a single game.
She became the first Maryland girls' basketball player to reach the combined milestone of 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds and 200 made three-pointers.
Vandiver earned Co-MVP honors at the 2026 Capital Gazette Senior All-Star Game and was a four-time First Team All-Conference selection. A three-time team captain, she also competed nationally on the Under Armour circuit and was ranked No. 145 in the Class of 2026 by BTN Scouting while earning McDonald's All-American nominee honors.
