05/03/2026 | Men's Lacrosse
Richmond, Va. – For the first time ever, the University of Richmond men's lacrosse team will host an NCAA Tournament game, as the No. 4-seed Spiders welcome Duke to Robins Stadium on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m.. The game will air on ESPNU.
Richmond earned the Atlantic 10's automatic bid and its seventh NCAA Tournament berth Saturday with an 8–6 victory over Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The title marked the program's third A-10 crown in the last four years and secured Richmond's first back-to-back conference championships since 2022–23.
The Spiders are seeded in the NCAA Tournament for the first time and enter at 14–1, winners of 23 of their last 25 games, and carry a program-best RPI of three. Richmond completed an undefeated Atlantic 10 schedule for the second consecutive season and reached the program's first-ever No. 1 national ranking earlier this year following wins over fellow tournament teams Virginia, Cornell and Georgetown.
Richmond enters the tournament with elite offensive production, ranking first nationally in scoring offense (16.00 goals per game), scoring margin (+7.79), shot percentage (35.1) and winning percentage (.929). The Spiders also rank second in points per game (25.00) and third in assists per game (9.00).
Defensively, Richmond ranks third in the nation, allowing just 8.21 goals per game. The Spiders are also eighth in ground balls per game (35.36), fourth in clearing percentage (.912) and fifth in caused turnovers per game (10.57).
Duke enters the tournament with a 9-4 overall record, including a 1-3 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Spiders and Blue Devils have met ten times before, most recently meeting in 2025 when Duke narrowly escaped the Spiders at Robins Stadium, 13-12.
First Round matchups (May 9/10) will be held on campus sites at the higher seed, with quarterfinal action (May 16–17) hosted by Hofstra and Delaware. The winner of Saturday's contest will advance to face the winner of No. 5-seed Virginia and Georgetown on Sunday, May 17 at Delaware.
The NCAA Semifinals (May 23) and Championship (May 25) will be held at Scott Stadium at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Ticket information for Saturday's game will be available Monday morning. Stay tuned to RichmondSpiders.com and the Spiders' social media channels at @SpiderMLAX and @SpiderAthletics.
