06/17/2026 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 announced conference pairings for the 2026-27 men's basketball season Wednesday. Richmond's conference schedule includes home-and-home series against Davidson, George Washington, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, and VCU, the same five opponents UR played twice during the 2025-26 regular season.
To fill out their 18-game conference schedule, the Spiders will also host Duquesne, Fordham, Loyola Chicago, and Saint Louis at the Robins Center and visit Dayton, George Mason, La Salle, and Saint Joseph's.
The 2026-27 season will be Richmond's 26th as a member of the Atlantic 10 and 55th in the Robins Center, which opened in 1972. Spider Athletics is currently accepting deposits from new season ticket holders for the upcoming season. The season ticket renewal process is expected to begin in early July.
2026-27 will be the 14th time in the last 15 seasons Richmond plays a home-and-home series against VCU, a stretch broken only by the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. The series, known as the Richmond Area Honda Dealers Capital City Classic, is UR's most frequently played home-and-home series since the Rams joined the Atlantic 10 in 2012.
Despite dropping a pair of games last season, Richmond has won nine of its last 13 games vs George Washington. 2026-27 will be the fifth straight season the Spiders have played a home-and-home series with the Revolutionaries.
The Spiders will also face Davidson twice during the regular season, hosting the Wildcats at the Robins Center and returning to Belk Arena, where they've won four of their last six games.
Richmond's home-and-home series vs St. Bonaventure will be its fourth vs the Bonnies over the last 11 years. Richmond swept the Bonnies last season, going 2-0 vs St. Bonaventure in a season for the first time since 2014-15.
After not meeting Rhode Island in a home-and-home series in any of its first 24 seasons in the Atlantic 10, 2026-27 will be the second straight season UR faces the Rams in the Robins Center and at the Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I.
The 2026-27 Spiders are led by sophomore Aiden Argabright, who became Richmond's first A-10 Rookie Team selection since 2018 last season. The roster also features six incoming transfer students: Andrew Ball (Monmouth), Amon Dörries (Bucknell), Jamie Kaiser Jr. (Butler), Jack McCaffery (Butler), Derin Saran (UC Irvine), and Dominick Stewart (Penn State).
