Summer Series: CC Jacobs
06/17/2026 | Women's Lacrosse
Hello Spider lacrosse fans! My name is CC Jacobs, and I am a rising senior defender on the women’s lacrosse team. I am currently writing to you guys from my office (childhood bedroom) in Fairfax, Virginia, and I am so excited to be the first Spider to tell you guys about my summer break plans. This summer, I am wearing a lot of different hats and pursuing multiple different opportunities, so buckle up!
My main job is currently as a reporter for the Fairfax County Times. I am a journalism major and hope to one day be a reporter in D.C. pursuing political journalism. My internship has already been action-packed, with in-person events and fun stories.
I mainly focus on local events and issues happening in Fairfax County on topics such as government and the environment. Even though my internship has been fully remote, it has made the writing process so much better since I can do it anywhere. I have also had the opportunity to attend events such as the grand opening of the largest solar plant on a landfill in Virginia, and this week I am reporting on the sentencing in a murder case that has reached national headlines. My editor has given me lots of freedom to report on what I am interested in, and I have been building my writing portfolio with many different stories.
When I am not writing or reporting, I have been head coaching a middle school lacrosse team called Virginia One. I have enjoyed meeting all of our new players and helping them learn new skills and build their lacrosse intelligence. Our first tournament is this weekend, and I am excited to see all of our hard work show on the field! This week, I will be coaching at a lacrosse camp called Triple Threat Camp with a lot of my old high school teammates as well. The team ages range from fourth through eighth grade, and it is always great to see old classmates working and hanging out.

Alongside coaching lacrosse and my internship, I am starting my third year as an assistant coach for Army Navy’s dive team. I grew up swimming and diving from ages 5-18, and all of my coworkers dove on the team as well. It is so much fun to spend my days at the pool helping kids learn new dives, and it always shocks me how much they grow up over the school year. Most of the kids I have known since they were seven and eight years old, and now they are in middle school or about to start high school. My dive team is like my summer family, and it is always the highlight of my summer.
Other than work, hanging out with friends, and training for the fall, I do have some fun trips planned. I am going to Denver, Colorado, in a few weeks for my sorority’s town hall convention, where we meet to vote on rules and standards for our chapter. I also plan on heading to Hilton Head Island in July to see my best friend and enjoy some time on the beach.
Being home has been super fun and action-packed, but I am already missing my teammates, Stella’s Coffee, and the city of Richmond so much! I cannot believe that it has already been a month since we left campus, but I am already counting down the days until we are back. For now... I will pass along the Spider Summer Series to CC Chandler, who has been working in NYC this summer!
