Summer Series: CC Chandler

Hi everyone! My name is C.C. Chandler, and I am a senior defender on the women’s lacrosse team at Richmond. This summer, I am living in New York City while completing a wealth and asset management internship. At Richmond, I am pursuing a major in business administration with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship, so this experience has been a great opportunity to put my coursework into practice.
My internship began in June with program-wide training in Brooklyn, which was a great opportunity to meet other interns from offices across the country. Although I am only a few weeks into the internship, I have already learned an incredible amount by sitting in meetings and reading up on changes in financial markets and economic policies. This week, I attended a Mets game with my intern class and continuing to learn more about the private wealth management industry.
It has truly been an incredible summer to be in New York! Between the World Cup, the Knicks’ championship victory and so many familiar faces working nearby, it has been a chaotic but exciting few weeks. It is also a unique time to be in finance. Witnessing the largest IPO in history, the explosive growth of AI, a newly appointed Fed chair and dynamic market conditions have made every day different and highly engaging.
Before the start of my internship, I spent time at physical therapy back home and had the chance to work out with incoming Spider Reese Quinn. Although I was there for the unfortunate reason of rehabbing an ACL injury, having a future teammate alongside me made the process much more enjoyable. While I was home in May, I also had the opportunity to watch my younger sister and my former high school team win the Connecticut state championship!
For the rest of the summer, I’m looking forward to connecting with Spider lacrosse alumni in the city and preparing to get back on the field this fall. Up next, we’ll hear from Nicole Kuhl as she reflects on her summer abroad program in Spain!
